Course Planning-Forecasting

Course Planning-Forecasting

Course forecasting helps you choose the right courses to stay on track for earning your Ontario High School Diploma and preparing for college, university, apprenticeship, or the workplace.
A key part of this process is creating a four-year academic and career plan. Even though you select courses by trimester, planning all four years of high school is important. It helps you make sure you complete required courses in the right order and leave room for electives that match your interests and future goals.
To graduate, you must earn a minimum of 27 credits, including four years of English and three years of Mathematics, along with other required credits. You only earn credits when you pass your courses, so choosing classes carefully matters. The courses you select can affect what options are available to you in future years and whether you meet post-secondary admission requirements.
Accurate forecasting is also important because course offerings are based on student selections. Some classes may not be offered during the year if there is not enough studetn interest, so you will be asked to choose alternate courses to keep your schedule on track.
Taking the time to plan thoughtfully helps you avoid last-minute changes, stay on track for graduation, and keep your post-high-school options open. The choices you make today help shape your future.
