Prerequisite: A or B in Algebra 2
This course focuses on the central ideas of algebra: functions, graphs, equations, inequalities, absolute value, the process of translating graphs and solving application problems. The functions studied include linear, polynomial, radical, exponential, logarithmic, inverse, variation and rational functions. Other topics are function notation, graphing higher order polynomials with real and non-real solutions, set and interval notation.

## Calculus

Pre: Successful completion of College Algebra, Trigonometry, and Pre-calculus with grades of A or B. Grades of C will require much more work on the student’s part as they may or may not be able to handle the increased pace and rigor of the class. All students must get department head approval for this class.
Calculus is a course for the college bound student planning to pursue a calculus-based field of study. In particular engineering, advanced mathematics, or a scientific field. Limits, differential and integral calculus and their applications are studied in depth. A graphics calculator is a necessity for this course as well as being competent in using one.
