Allied Health Program
CNA and Phlebotomy
In partnership with the following groups: Saint Alphonsus Medical Center, St. Lukes Medical Group, and TVCC, Ontario High School is participating in a Health Career Technical Education Program. This is a two year program designed to prepare students for an entry level position in the medical field.
Students interested in completing the Nursing Assistant program must first enroll in Exploring Health Occupations (this can be either the students Sophomore, Junior, or Senior year). Once completing this class students may apply to be in the Nursing Assistant program (there is limited space and students are selected based on their performance in the Exploring Health Occupations class and teacher recommendation). Students who are going to be Seniors may complete the Exploring Health Occupations class AND the Nursing Assistant class at the same time as long as the counselor and Allied Health teacher agrees. **It is highly recommended that only Senior students enroll in the NA program based on Oregon law that a person must be 18 to be hired to work in the State of Oregon.
Students who are not selected to be in the Nursing Assistant class at OHS are encouraged to pursue this on their own through TVCC the following Summer.
The program contains college level work so each student must be prepared to take classes with high expectations. Good attendance is crucial to passing the classes.
