This course will provide students with a better understanding of our federal system of government and its various functions. Emphasis will be placed on how the U.S. government works at all levels and how students can participate in political decisions. Citizenship and civil liberties as well as a comparison of major political economic systems throughout the world will be studied. *HONORS AMERICAN GOVERNMENT Semester Pre: 12, Instructor Approval Honors American Government will focus on the individual's political involvement in our government at all levels. A review of our political heritage will be undertaken in conjunction with the study of contemporary issues. Comparative governments and economic systems will be studied. Higher level thinking skills will be stressed during this course through interpretation of news stories and issues arising from the federal state, county, and local powers that be. Students may be able to earn college credit through Boise State University.
